About Robert
- Chartered Accountant, CA ANZ
- Registered Tax Agent 65645006
- Principal, Sestan & Co, since 2001
Robert has been Principal of Sestan & Co Chartered Accountants since 2001, providing accounting, taxation and business advisory services to individuals, families and privately owned businesses.
Much of the work involves clients whose affairs have outgrown a single entity — a trading company, one or more trusts, an SMSF, and property or investments held across them. Our focus is the position across the group rather than each entity in isolation: where income is distributed, which entity holds which asset, and how a decision in one place shows up in the others.
He is directly involved in every client relationship and in the advice that leaves the practice. Some clients have been with Robert for more than 25 years, several from before the practice itself — which matters most when a question turns on why something was done a particular way a decade ago.
A small team handles bookkeeping, preparation and administration. Robert reviews and signs everything.
Where we add the most value
Where a considered view is worth more than a compliant one.

- Succession and intergenerational transfer
Self-managed superannuation
Administration and the strategy around it, so a fund is working efficiently rather than merely staying compliant.

Who we work with
Clients whose affairs have grown complicated enough that generic advice stops being useful.
Family groups with companies, trusts and SMSFs
Most family groups accumulate entities rather than design them. A company from the business, a trust added a few years later, an SMSF run by someone else entirely. Each is administered competently and none of it is coordinated. We work across all of it — where income is distributed, which entity holds which asset, when contributions are made, and how a decision in one entity shows up in the others.
Established businesses
Past the startup phase, with real tax exposure, asset protection needs, and decisions that benefit from a financial view alongside the compliance work.
Medical and legal professionals
High-income earners who need structures that hold up under scrutiny and protect personal wealth from both litigation and unnecessary tax.
Construction and property
Project-based accounting, GST on property transactions, and the cash flow patterns particular to the trades and development.
How the work is done
Simple in principle, thorough in practice.
